Multimedia A multimedia computer system is one that is capable of input or output of more than one medium. The term is applied to systems that support more than one physical output medium, such as a computer display, video, and audio. The word "multimedia” originally referred to works of art that combined multiple traditional art media as in a multimedia art installation. Multimedia has been used widely in education and for the presentation of research. A Multimedia system has four basic characteristics: # Multimedia systems must be computer controlled # Multimedia systems are integrated # The information they handle must be represented digitally # The interface to the final presentation of media is usually interactive
