Fashion design is the art of application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories. Fashion design is influenced by cultural and social latitudes, and has varied over time and place. Fashion designers work in a number of ways in designing clothing and accessories such as bracelets and necklace, because of the time required to bring a garment onto the market, must at times anticipate changing consumer tastes. Fashion designers attempt to design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. They consider who is likely to wear a garment and the situations in which it will be worn. They have a wide range and combinations of materials to work with and a wide range of colors, patterns and styles to choose from. Though most clothing worn for everyday wear falls within a narrow range of conventional styles, unusual garments are usually sought for special occasions such as evening wear or party dresses. Some clothes are made specifically for an individual, as in the case of haute couture or bespoke tailoring. Today, most clothing is designed for the mass market, especially casual and every-day wear are called ready to wear. Fashion designers may work full-time for one fashion as 'in-house designers' which owns the designs. They may work alone or as part of a team. Freelance designers work for themselves, selling their designs to fashion houses, directly to shops, or to clothing manufacturers. The garments bear the buyer's label. Some fashion designers set up their own labels, under which their designs are marketed. Some fashion designers are self-employed and design for individual clients. Other high-end fashion designers cater to specialty stores or high-end fashion department stores. These designers create original garments, as well as those that follow established fashion trends. Most fashion designers, however, work for apparel manufacturers, creating designs of men’s, women’s, and children’s fashions for the mass market. Large designer brands which have a 'name' as their brand such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Justice, or Juicy are likely to be designed by a team of individual designers under the direction of a designer director. Fashion designers work in different ways. Some sketch their ideas on paper, while others drape fabric on a dress form. When a designer is completely satisfied with the fit of the toile (or muslin), he or she will consult a professional pattern maker who then makes the finished, working version of the pattern out of card or via a computerized system. The pattern maker's job is very precise and painstaking. The fit of the finished garment depends on their accuracy. Finally, a sample garment is made up and tested on a model to make sure it is an operational outfit. Fashion design is generally considered to have started in the 19th century with Charles Frederick Worth who was the first designer to have his label sewn into the garments that he created. Before the former draper set up his maison couture (fashion house) in Paris, clothing design and creation was handled by largely anonymous seamstresses, and high fashion descended from that worn at royal courts. Worth's success was such that he was able to dictate to his customers what they should wear, instead of following their lead as earlier dressmakers had done. The term couturier was in fact first created in order to describe him. While all articles of clothing from any time period are studied by academics as costume design, only clothing created after 1858 are considered as fashion design. It was during this period that many design houses began to hire artists to sketch or paint designs for garments. The images were shown to clients, which was much cheaper than producing an actual sample garment in the workroom. If the client liked their design, they ordered it and the resulting garment made money for the house. Thus, the tradition of designers sketching out garment designs instead of presenting completed garments on models to customers began as an economy. ---------------------------- Kalapurnam Fashion Design Institute C. In filmmaking, visual effects (abbreviated VFX) are the processes by which imagery is created and/or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot. Visual effects involve the integration of live-action footage and generated imagery to create environments which look realistic, but would be dangerous, expensive, impractical, or simply impossible to capture on film. Visual effects using computer generated imagery have recently become accessible to the independent filmmaker with the introduction of affordable and easy-to-use animation and compositing software. Visual effects are often integral to a movie's story and appeal. Although most visual effects work is completed during post-production, it usually must be carefully planned and choreographed in pre-production and production. Visual effects primarily executed in Post-Production, with the use of multiple tools and technologies such as graphic design, modeling, animation and similar software, while special effects such as explosions and car chases are made on set. A visual effects supervisor is usually involved with the production from an early stage to work closely with production and the film's director design, guide and lead the teams required to achieve the desired effects. Visual effects may be divided into at least four categories: Matte paintings and stills: digital or traditional paintings or photographs which serve as background plates for keyed or rotoscoped elements. Live-action effects: keying actors or models through bluescreening and greenscreening. Digital animation: modeling, computer graphics lighting, texturing, rigging, animating, and rendering computer-generated 3D characters, particle effects, digital sets, backgrounds. Digital effects (commonly shortened to digital FX or FX) are the various processes by which imagery is created and/or manipulated with or from photographic assets. Digital effects often involve the integration of still photography and computer-generated imagery (CGI) in order to create environments which look realistic, but would be dangerous, costly, or simply impossible to capture in camera. FX is usually associated with the still photography world in contrast to visual effects which is associated with motion film production.

KALAPURNAM DREAM Imagine yourself driving a sleek BMW cruising along a quite road, just nature and you, or imagine sipping your morning tea or coffee sitting in the balcony of your seaside apartment. I believe the time has come for to stop only dreaming and start believing in yourself because very soon you are going to be able to fulfill your own dreams (yes! In this lifetime! ) and I am going to show you exactly how. Seeing a smile of wonder or constant amazement and awe is something we seek in our viewers and that’s what keeps the animators going. Animation is a magical world of fantasies, which has presented itself to us in the form of a career option, and weaves magic in our lives. It is filled with a constant rythem, a beat and energetic entertaining fun and the best part is of course, that you get paid handsomely! There are so many in our world brimming with creativity pouring out from their eyes, nose and ears yet are forced to enter in the fields like science, commerce, arts etc. not of their choice. This monotonous lifestyle of working into a profession not of your liking may earn you bread for your family but in the process, have we thought what it will do to that person? Life and fun often get sucked out of this monotonous pattern and we end up loosing a part of ourselves becoming boring and lifeless in mind, body, spirit getting burn out at either out of force or no other options available. Animation is like a bollywood hero here rescuing the Poor souls from the bad guys. It has it’s roots not only in cartoons but is vastly spread out, branching out to the advertising fields , Bollywood, Hollywood, entertainment industries, corporate world, gaming etc. and thousand others offering one a stable yet constantly entertainment, energy packed job, with perks and huge sum of money. What if your mind is not made for designing cartoons? Well my friend, that definitely is not the criteria to worry, for there are practically a thousand other jobs waiting to welcome you and which could relate to you and your creativity like becoming a creative art director or getting into VFX to name just a few. Talking about animation from the time investment and job point of view in detail , we see a very big advantage lying here…for it matches this era’s mentality of earning quick money with quick results as well less time investment in learning the skills. Anywhere between 6 to 36 months of rigorous training and presto! You are an animator….and all you need is skill, creativity and hard work in this field…gone are the days when only a degree can get you a good job. In fact, the industry presents a palate of choices to the individual where he gets to pick the job of his choice and show his expertise. Freelancing is also another good option along with learning, and earns an individual experience as well as money. Also certain institutions in Ahmedabad offers a degree from the university from all over India on the completion of your course and this can definitely light up your resume like a star studded evening giving you an edge over animators immediately putting you at least 25 steps ahead….Animation world is one of the very rare magazine in the country, which gives a whole perspective of the happening of the industry every month….and a famous gentleman was mentioned in the magazine remarking that the animation boom is like the software boom which started 15 years back…and we all know that the software boom did the world …Just we learn our A, B, C… the three fundamentals of animation lie in the PRE-PRODUCTION, PRODUCTION, AND POST PRODUCTION. A huge number of animation agencies have opened all over the city and the jitter bug of animation is catching on inviting students with open arms. Some of these designs and animation schools and institutions strengthen the students from the core, helping them to tone up their skills and basic roots and gear them up for the real world industry. The focus given to pre-production in some classes is immensely important; it is like nurturing a animation in each student which will flower and spread with strong roots. The way buildings are constructed, creating a wireframe or blueprint, and then the concrete steel, and then the paint and accessories, similarly each student is build with these building blocks so that he/she can withstand all kinds of competition in the real world industry, any place they go. I wonder why there are only 60, 000 animators emerging each year when according to NASSCOM we will be needing over 5 lakh students by 2019. And if you are also wondering , whether I’d forgotten about the BMW or plush 4 bedroom apartment…..No I hadn’t, but in case if you had, I think it’s time you to realize that dreams are meant to be dreamt to convert them into realities and truly kalapurnam is the key to unlock the door to greet your opportunities. So, what are you waiting for? I think… I can hear a doorbell, it might be my opportunity called kalapurnam!!
